What makes us Unique

We understand strong family bonds, and the emotional turmoil that often occurs through the loss of a loved one. We understand how to create special funeral services that are individual and unique, whether it’s a burial or cremation ceremony, and we encourage family members to be
a part of the decision making of the service.

As a family business we were honoured and humbled to be asked to manage the state funeral service for Sir Edmund Hillary. But whether it’s the funeral of a national hero or a much loved private family member, our focus and commitment is always to provide the family with the highest possible level of care, understanding and service excellence.

We believe it is the dedication and professionalism of our staff combined with our history of service, vision and commitment that makes us unique.

Aftercare

We have on staff a dedicated bereavement care co-ordinator offering a complimentary bereavement care programme to all our client families, as it is our desire to extend our care beyond the funeral. We can also advise and assist with establishing a suitable headstone or memorial for your loved one. For your convenience a selection of memorials can be viewed at our Henderson office.

Education

Whilst not a requirement under NZ law, we support our staff to obtain qualifications in their profession as funeral directors and/or embalmers. We have 7 qualified funeral directors and 5 qualified embalmers on our staff. At Davis Funerals, education is a key aspect to providing excellent care to our client families. When embalming services are provided, our client families can take comfort in the knowledge this is being provided under the guidance of qualified staff and members of the New Zealand Embalmers Association. John Schipper, our Henderson branch manager, is a past President of this association. Davis Funerals believe in educating the community about the funeral process. We provide funeral education to community and school groups and health care providers.
