About Us
Robert (Bob) Russell
Operations Manager
I was born and raised mostly in Auckland although my early childhood was spent in Hamilton. Upon returning to Auckland, I attended Mt Albert Grammar School. After completing school I joined the National Bank and served with them for 10 years in Auckland, Waihi, Rotorua & Whakatane. I began my career in the funeral industry in Whakatane and upon returning to Auckland in 1982 I worked for a funeral company for a further three years before being invited to join Davis Funerals in 1985.
I have a major interest in the Masonic Lodge having been a member since 1980. I am the past Right Worshipful District Grand Master for NZ North, Grand Lodge of Scotland. I hold the highest honorary grand rank of Senior Grand Warden. My mother lodge is Lodge Gisborne. I also serve the community as a Justice of the Peace.
I live with my partner Pat and have a love of Scotty terriers, my most recent Scotty is ‘Dougal’ who shares our attention along with the cat ‘McLeod’. I enjoy watching cricket, rugby and snooker, have an interest in Scottish ancestry and enjoy any opportunity to go out on the water to fish.
I have been in a Management role at Davis’s for more than 20 years and have enjoyed seeing the changes in the industry over this time. I have served 3 generations of the Little family in my time here, and have seen many changes implemented over the years that have bettered the company and in turn our client families. I enjoy working with and organising our staff in the daily operations of Davis’s.
I get absolute satisfaction being able to help families in stress and need and help get them back on the road to recovery. ‘What ever the family wants’ is a very special motto for me. It is a privilege to work for what I consider to be the best funeral company in the country.
