About Us
Jan Beaumont
Receptionist
Born and raised in Auckland, I left school at 16 and worked as a legal secretary for several years. In 1967, I went overseas and worked for a mining company in Canada and then worked as secretary to the NZ Trade Commissioner at the NZ Consulate-General in New York City and later as Visa Officer at the Australian Consulate-General. Following my marriage in New York, I left to live with my husband in England.
After returning to New Zealand to have a family I once again worked as a legal secretary and then started my own cooking school in Auckland, as well as writing cooking columns and presenting a cookery show on Radio 1ZB. I took a year off work to spend with my children and was then fortunate enough to join Davis Funerals in 1990 as Receptionist (or as I like to call it “Director of First Impressions”).
I enjoy working in the funeral industry because I am a people person and the contact with families, and the enormous job satisfaction this gives, makes it a job I have never tired of.
Outside work I enjoy time spent with family (3 children and 2 grandchildren), together with going to films with friends and, of course, cooking. I also print thank you cards, memorial bookmarks and Catholic prayer cards at home so I’m always busy. To relax I have recently become an enthusiastic cruiser, having travelled around the South Pacific twice in the last two years. I also plan to travel to Europe to visit my daughter.
