Embalming

Embalming is a service provided to ensure that family and friends will have safe access and a positive experience when viewing their loved one. Embalming at Davis Funerals is carried out by qualified embalmers, or supervised by a member of the New Zealand Embalmers Association and in accordance with their code of ethics.

There are 3 reasons for embalming:

Sanitisation: The body is totally disinfected which renders micro organisms harmless. This allows family and friends to view and touch the body without risk to their health.

Preservation: All tissue is preserved which slows down the natural decomposition of the body. The preservation can be adjusted in each individual case to allow for short, medium and long term preservation.

Presentation: Embalming allows a firm clean surface to apply cosmetics and carry out restorative work on the body if necessary. For further information on the embalming process you may want to visit the New Zealand Embalmers Association website at www.nzembalmers.org.nz

Eco Preparation

At Davis Funerals we are affiliated to Eco Funerals, and their website gives further details on eco friendly embalming practices. You may like to visit the website at www.ecofunerals.co.nz
